Between the Adriatic and the Danube

Croatia's cultural diversity

Rental exhibition with 20 displays

Croatia – that is diversity in the smallest of spaces. 23 different nations live in an area slightly larger than Lower Saxony. The landscapes between the Adriatic and the Danube couldn’t be more different. The history of the country is as varied as nature. Croatia connects East and West, the Mediterranean with the Pannonian area. This bridge position is also reflected in the Roman, Ottoman, Habsburg and Yugoslav heritage. Germans and Austrians also shaped the country for more than two centuries – until the Second World War, flight, displacement and internment ended the peaceful coexistence of the peoples of Croatia.
