What makes a festival a festival?

Drawing on their own experiences of celebrating festivals, participants asked the question, “What actually makes a festival a festival?” They searched for generally valid, cross-cultural answers, which connect the festivals and customs of the Danube Swabians with today’s festive traditions in various countries and also take into account the change of festivals through migration experiences. Together with the DZM, the participants designed an open-air exhibition in front of or at the museum building.
