Typical Danube Swabian!?
An exhibition for the eyes, ears and hands
27.11.2026 - 30.05.2027
These are the Danube Swabians: Popular!? Hard-working!? Tidy!? Thrifty!? Religious!? Supportive!? Sociable!? Multicultural!? Unpopular!? Conciliatory!? Nostalgic!? Eleven themed displays explore supposedly typical Danube Swabian characteristics. Through these, the exhibition explores the Danube Swabians’ self-image, historical reality and how they are perceived by others, thereby debunking – often in a humorous way – prejudices and clichés. The special exhibition not only complements the DZM’s permanent exhibition in terms of content, but also offers all visitors low-threshold access to the history of the Danube Swabians through its inclusive and multisensory approach. Visitors thus have the opportunity to explore the nature, function and history of historical objects by handling and touching them. In addition to objects that can be experienced through touch, audio guides and a wheelchair-accessible exhibition layout enable as many interested visitors as possible to explore the exhibition independently.
