War Endings
What can we hold on to?
12.02. - 25.04.2027
Using a combination of archive research and drawings, the artist Ludmilla Bartscht traces the paths of people forced to leave their homes as a result of the Second World War. Her focus is on the experiences and perspectives of women, children and young people who belonged to German-speaking minorities in Eastern Europe. Their stories are not only about forced departures and new beginnings, but also about strength, dignity and finding the freedom to act in extreme situations.
Being on the road, living in between, arriving, looking back – how is the past connected to the present? How does social cohesion evolve? What can we hold on to? The graphic novel exhibition presents migration as a human experience that is constantly being rewritten: in family histories, social debates and cultures of remembrance.
