Ion Stendl

Work show

13.03.09 - 14.06.09

The exhibition by the Banat artist showed paintings, drawings and collages from four decades of his work.

Ion Stendl was born in Reschitza in 1938. After graduating from high school, he attended the art school in Bucharest, where he later also worked. At the center of his work is the exploration of the human body, which he analyzes painterly and graphically. This is particularly reflected in the outstanding quality of his drawings. In doing so, he repeatedly falls back on motifs from Western painting, which merge with ideas and techniques of modern art by means of surreal alienation. Ion Stendl thus builds a bridge between the past and the future, which gives the viewer completely new perspectives on the well-known.
