Escape and displacement after the Second World War

For grades 10-13

For most Germans, the end of the war in 1945 means the long-awaited end to fear and uncertainty. For the Danube Swabians, on the other hand, homelessness begins: they flee, expel and deport them to Germany, America and the Soviet Union. Using objects and their stories as well as eyewitness testimony, the young people deal with the effects of forced migrations and their consequences for coexistence in post-war Germany. They contrast these historical experiences with refugee movements and integration problems in the present.
