From the “Ulmer Schachtel” to the Danube steamship

“A boat trip that is fun,” they say, but it was a long way to go before traveling by boat was actually pleasant. For the Danube Swabians, the journey with the “Ulmer Schachtel” was still very difficult. It was only with the steamship that traveling to the Danube countries became a pleasure. The young people learn how the Danube region was first developed through trade and emigration, and later through the emergence of tourism.
