In the “Fabric Stories” project, participants in the International DZM Forum “Migration Connects” explored the special exhibition “Heavy Fabric.” Inspired by the stories behind the selected Danube Swabian garments, the group presented their own “textile experiences.”
For the exhibition, the participants gathered events and memories they associated with specific garments, styles, fabrics, or patterns. These included, for example, a fabric mosaic depicting the course of life in two different worlds, a band T-shirt as a memento of youth, and a missing jacket that told the story of a lost life.
Each personal “fabric story” was individually rendered on a pillowcase using various techniques.
