House stories

German traces in the Danube countries

07/06/02 - 09/29/02

A joint project of ten museums in Germany, Hungary, Romania and Serbia. Twelve residential buildings, with their residents sensitively portrayed by Martin Rosswog, open up a panorama of living conditions in four Danube countries (Germany, Hungary, Serbia and Romania). At the same time, the stories told about it show how much the history and culture of Central and South-Eastern Europe has been influenced by migrations, the coexistence of different ethnic groups and political upheavals over the past 300 years. The “House Stories” exhibition was awarded the Romanian culture prize “Romulus Vuia” in 2003.
