The area in today’s southern Hungary is located in the southern part of the Danube-Drava plate and includes the counties of Tolna (Tolnau), Baranya (Branau) and Somogy (Schomodei). The name “Swabian Turkey” refers to the German settlement in the area 18th century, in which, in addition to Slovak, Croatian and Serbian colonists, people from the Palatinate, Main Franconia, Hesse, the Westerwald, Fulda, East Franconia and Bavaria were also settled. The name “Swabian Turkey” reflects the close connection between the Germans and the region, which was called Törökország (Turkey Country) in the 17th century. The Hungarian name was translated into German and supplemented with the adjective “Swabian”. The exhibition shows the culture and history of the region and is particularly dedicated to the history of the Germans. In addition to the historical events, selected economic sectors and the art-historical development of the villages and towns are presented. The country’s rich cultural heritage, people and outstanding architectural evidence are shown in the exhibition.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_height_percent=”0″ override_padding=”yes” h_padding=”2″ top_padding=”2″ bottom_padding=”3″ overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ column_width_percent=”100″ shift_y=”0″ z_index=”0″ uncode_shortcode_id=”159605″][vc_column column_width_percent=”71″ gutter_size=”2″ overlay_alpha=”50″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ shift_y_down=”0″ z_index=”0″ medium_width=”0″ mobile_width=”0″ width=”1/1″ uncode_shortcode_id=”133384″][vc_separator sep_color=”color-wayh” icon_position=”left” uncode_shortcode_id=”214189″ sep_color_type=”uncode-palette” el_width=”15%” el_height=”2px”][vc_empty_space empty_h=”0″][vc_row_inner limit_content=””][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_custom_heading heading_semantic=”h6″ text_size=”h6″ text_weight=”700″ sub_lead=”small” sub_reduced=”yes” uncode_shortcode_id=”155700″ subheading=”The exhibition texts are in German.
