What are, or were, the Danube Swabians really like? Through eleven supposedly typical Danube Swabian characteristics, the exhibition ‘Self-image, Historical Reality and External Perception of the Danube Swabians’ explores these traits and, in the process – sometimes in a humorous way – debunks stereotypical notions.

For the eyes, ears and hands
What is usually forbidden is explicitly permitted here. Alongside audio recordings, “Typically Danube Swabian!?” also features objects you can touch. Delicate embroidery, rough-textured tamped concrete: through touch, the stories behind the objects become even more tangible.

Join in!
How much of a Danube Swabian is in you? And what do you think is ‘typically Danube Swabian’? At interactive stations, visitors are invited to get to the bottom of these questions.

Through its multi-sensory approach, the exhibition aims to give as many people as possible access to Danube Swabian history. This is further ensured by the exhibition’s accessible design and a tactile floor guidance system. Guided tours for blind and visually impaired visitors are also available.

The exhibition stems from an on-site consultation with the Federal Academy for Cultural Education in Wolfenbüttel on the topic of inclusion. It was funded by special federal grants and the Otto Kässbohrer Foundation (Ulm).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[392
post-117072","portfolio","type-portfolio","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","portfolio_category-special-exhibitions-preview
["GET
