We took this historical event as an opportunity to present the new member in a regional exhibition. The focus was on the German-speaking minority in Croatia in the past and present, as well as the regions of eastern Croatia that are little known in this country – Baranja, Slavonia and Syrmia. The exhibition showed the history and cultural diversity of Croatia – from prehistory and early history to the Romans, Slavs and Ottomans to the present day. The impressive natural and cultural landscape of the coast with its national parks and its UNESCO World Heritage Site was just as important as the capital Zagreb as a political, cultural and economic center.<\/p>\n

In addition, the photo exhibition “Searching for Traces” by the Osijek photographer Damir Rajle was on display. As early as 1999, Rajle was looking for German traces in eastern Croatia for the DZM. After thirteen years, he set out again and shows in his pictures how the region has developed since then.<\/p>\n

The exhibition is a project of the DZM, the cultural advisor for Southeast Europe at the DZM, the City Museum Vinkovci, the Museum of Slavonia, the German Community – Landsmannschaft der Donauschwaben in Croatia, Osijek, and the German Cultural Forum Eastern Europe, Potsdam. On July 1st it will be shown in the Representation of the EU Commission in Berlin, then it will move on to Croatia.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
